I am having problems with Networking 2 Windows 10 computers.
The first computer is an HP Laptop with windows 10 factory installed. It connects to my router via a wireless connection.
The second is a Dell Desktop with 2 SSD's -- one containing Win 7 and the other Win 10. I choose in BIOS which I want to use. Only one of them is connected at a time. Their names are Windows10 or Windows7 depending on which SSD is connected
When the desktop is running Win 10, the laptop's Network window shows the desktop but when I try to open it I get a message from Window Security telling me to enter my credentials to connect to Window10 and the name jsquareg. I assume jsquareg refers to the Ethernet network on on the Desktop. I've no idea what the password is or why it asks to connect to it. Also, on the desktop, the network window does not show the laptop,
But, when I run the desktop under Windows 7, Everything works just fine. Each machine can communicate with the other.
I have read all I can find about networking Windows 10 but have not been able to find an answer to this problem.
Can someone help me?
Thank you very much.
Hi Ibrahim,
Setting up a P2P network between two computers can be done in Windows 10. You just have to make sure that your computers are on the same workgroup. Please follow these steps on how to do it:
Press the Windows key + X then select System.
Click on Change settings.
Enter your workgroup name.
Restart the computer and repeat the steps on your other computers.
Press the Windows key + X then select File Explorer.
Select Network.
After following the steps, you should see the computers on your network.
Should you have further questions, feel free to post them on this thread.

This is not my problem, by the way both computers are on the same workgroup(Default on both was WORKGROUP and I changed them both to ABC).I don't have any problems with the network sharing stuff of windows. The problem is, both the computers can send data but none is able to receive.

How can the answer be improved? Apr 11, 2014 - Macworld Lab took two new Mac Pros and used IP over Thunderbolt to. Connect the two Macs. Network pref tbolt bridge 100261071 large.
The problem I am having is also mentioned in this thread.
You are not getting my point Jefferson Ore. The problem is with P2P ethernet connection, which works on Windows 7,8,8.1 but is no longer working on Windows 10.
ALSO-I have updated the NIC drivers, windows is up to date and I tried both- patch and crossover cables.
